If you are caught with minor possession and consumption of weed, you can get up to 5 years of imprisonment and a fine, while on the other hand, if you are caught with larger quantities you can receive a financial punishment as well as jail time of 2 to 15 years.

There have been cases where some dealers were cooperating with undercover cops to bust tourists who wanted to buy weed or drugs.

Even with all these setbacks, there are places in Thailand where cannabis is cultivated, especially in the northeast province of Nakhon Phanom, where it even grows naturally in the wild (typical sativa).

The good news is, Thailand plans to legalize the selling of medical marijuana in 2018. People will be able to get marijuana, but only on a doctor’s orders, they will not be able to grow it themselves.

There is even a probability the dealers will approach you if they figure out you are that type of tourist. However, as mentioned above, stay awake because some dealers might be crooks and get you arrested.

Cannabis Prices in Koh Samui

Cannabis prices are relatively low in Koh Samui, but the quality follows the price, unfortunately.

The most common shape of getting weed is in bricks for a price of some 15$. The brick is big enough for making 4-6 joints.

As with most South Asian nations, negotiation is expected while making any sort of purchase. Therefore, if your bartering skills are good, you may be able to get the same amount of weed for less money.
